Polaris on maailman ensimmäinen LNG-jäänmurtaja. Alus voi käyttää polttoaineenaan nesteytettyä maakaasua (LNG) ja matalarikkistä dieseliä. Maakaasun käyttö polttoaineena vähentää aluksen hiilidioksidipäästöjä.

Polaris is world’s first icebreaker powered by lique­fied natural gas. The use of both LNG and low sulphur diesel reduces the vessel’s emis­sions, making Polaris an envir­on­ment­ally friendly icebreaker.
