The Warsan Energy from Waste facility has been constructed and is Operated by the Warsan Waste Management Company (WWMC), under the 35 year Concession Agreement with Dubai Municipality, through a public-private partnership (PPP). The facility processes approximately 2 million tonnes of municipal solid waste per year. The facility has been operational since March 2024 and has already processed over 3.0 million tonnes of waste, diverting approximately 45% of Dubai’s daily municipal solid waste away from landfill and reducing the UAE’s CO2e emissions by 65m tonnes over the 35 year life of the facility.
At full capacity, the facility processes approximately 5,600 tonnes of waste per day – around 45% of Dubai’s daily Municipal solid waste – and produce around 190 megawatts of electricity, enough to power around 135,000 households. The facility also supports the circular economy by recovering metals and using the ash generated during combustion as a raw material for the construction industry.

Oilon’s burner solution is a key part of facility’s energy generation, enabling an efficient and stable combustion process on a large scale. Oilon’s technology supports the facility’s high efficiency, operational reliability and environmental objectives.
The burners are operated as start-up and support burners, whose tasks include boiler start-up and shutdown, ensuring a controlled and safe process, maintaining the combustion temperature (typically >850 °C), which is essential for complete combustion and emission control. In addition, the task is to stabilize combustion with varying waste quality due to variations in the energy content and moisture content of the Municipal solid waste and to minimize emissions by supporting optimal combustion and reducing harmful compounds.
Oilon solutions are particularly known for their high efficiency, low emissions and reliable operation under demanding conditions, making them an ideal choice for large-scale Energy from Waste plants, such as the Warsan Waste Management Company facility.
